Superfluous

Just once, I'd like to have some unique positive trait that I could point to and say "That right there - that's why I'm important. That's something no one else has. That's what makes me special."
I'm going off line for awhile. If it's important, don't use email.

Date: 2008-03-25 01:18 pm (UTC)I know you love SCA and are a very good archer.
You have a funny looking kilt. (I think. I saw a picture).
I know you like going to Banff (Sp?) and Vancouver
You greatly value your friends.
You like going to see movies I've never heard about here.
You're always welcoming and inviting (at least you seem that way to me).
You learned to drive a car even though it scared you and you still did it.
You can run. That's something I can't do and don't have the determination to do.
So even though we are not RL friends I enjoy being online friends. I like being able to be connected to people who live so far away and being able to talk to them like they are not.
So YOU are IMPORTANT and SPECIAL.
Don't make me come up over there and whack you over the head a good one!
Have a good rest and a good time at the wedding.

Date: 2008-03-25 03:20 pm (UTC)It's not uniqueness that makes us special. It's the wonderful way we bring together and express all the many and interesting traits that make up our person that makes us special. And you are special.
Besides valuing yourself for what others see is problematic at best hon. Place true stock in the value you have for yourself - the value others see in us is far too variable and quirky.
Surely you can see the postive traits in you? I know I can see them...
HUGS
You are far too hard on you my dear

Date: 2008-03-25 11:35 pm (UTC)You hold knowledge and abilities that I hope to learn from among other things.
I myself have no idea what or if I have something other people don't. I consider myself just an average girl- but I'm happy with that :) If I was too extraordinary I don't think I could live up to all the hype/pressure of always being that way.
I hope this makes sense I'm not very good at putting whats in my head into words.
BIG HUG

Date: 2008-03-26 03:01 am (UTC)...But being unique isn't what makes a person special it's what they do with what they have that does.
However, if it means anything - I do understand. I have similar feelings a lot of the time... especially when I've been doing something at work and suddenly I'm asked to teach someone else to do it. I want to be known for doing X. I know that the feeling isn't something to dwell on because we need others as backup - so I try really hard not to get angry/upset about people taking my specialness away... but sometimes it's really hard.
Anyway, I appreciate being able to read about what's going on in all my friends lives because I so rarely get to spend much time with them; and I often feel very alone and stuck up here in the middle of nowhere - so I hope you keep blogging - if only for my own selfish reasons.
Hey
