Closeting For the Good of Jeebus

I just had a scary thought. Closeted gay men are the Religious Right's ideal husband. Consider this:

• They're likely to aggressively attach themselves to traditional gender roles.
  
• They only have sex for procreation.
  
• Everyone in the marriage is miserable and ashamed.
  
• It's all for fear of God Jeebus.

No, I haven't really considered the implications of any of this - I'm just thinking out loud.

You do have to wonder at the number of upright, "straight" republican politicians that keep getting caught soliciting sex in public men's rooms (and other lovely acts of "family values")

Ahhh, but if they are successfully keeping these acts in the closet, then they will not be endangering the family unity. In fact, the process of remaining in the closet tends to work against the dissolution of a marriage.
