What is it with Conservatives and meaningless gestures pretending to be democracy?

First it was the completely bogus Alberta Senator-in-Waiting vote during the last provincial election. Now it's the so-called confidence vote in the House of Commons yesterday.

Guys, a confidence vote has a very precise meaning in parliament and your motion of confidence did not qualify. There's going to be a vote on the budget in two weeks - that will be a true vote of confidence.

You can call a turd a banana-split if you want to - you can even dress it up with some whipped cream and a cherry - but that doesn't make it true. I'm certainly not going to stick a spoonful of it in my mouth.

Remember the Tory caucus in Ottawa is dominated by Alberta Tories and they're playing to the home crowd and not really thinking about what the consequences in the rest of Canada.

I hope you're right...

If you're right, Evil, then there's a reasonable chance that the inevitable election the Conservatives are pushing for won't result in a Conservative majority. *shudder*
