Long Weekend Update
Mar. 29th, 2005 09:21 pmLast week I worked four ten-hour days in a row. Did I do it so that I wouldn't hear my roomies' having sex? Nope - it was so that I could get a four day weekend, and I succeeded in this goal and also in not hearing any nookie.
Friday was gaming in Brain's D20 Dwarf-tastic game. I have a couple of longer posts on the dwarf game, so I won't go into details about it now. Next up was archery.
I was ambivalent about archery last week. I was just getting over a snot-filled week of head cold so I didn't really feel up to it. Also, the other gamers were sticking around to play video games and watch movies.
garething was going to archery though and I decided to go as well.
I'm glad I did, I had a good time. My shooting sucked but I had a good time. How bad was the sucking? Well last week I got a 55 on my royal round and this week I got 34. It wasn't until the ride home that I realized that I was plucking my bow on release. This pretty much randomizes your shot so that instead of hitting the target you hit anywhere within three feet of the target. So I couldn't hit a damn thing.
Next day I played with some junk computers and finally got my AV computer up and running. Now I can watch pirated television shows at will.
Easter began with me going down to the Sentry Box to spend some money. I checked there web site, which had several club meetings scheduled there today, so I figured they were open. Nope, the schedule was wrong. I got a decent enough walk out of it though and afterwards I picked up some take out for dinner. Brain and I watched the last two episodes of Battlestar Galactica (two episodes ahead of everyone else in North America, BOO-YA baby). Afterwards, Carmen, Brain and I went of to garething's to watch The Grudge.
About The Grudge - I normally don't care for horror movies. Not because i find them scary. In fact, I generally find them either unintentionally funny (Resident Evil) or simply insipid and cliched. This movie was different - I had the heebie-jeebies throughout and was genuinely scared at times. I'm quite impressed.
Monday I spent moving furniture up and down stairs. My reward was a small amount of cuddling and some pizza. Next time I hope for less pizza, more cuddling. Today I am sore from the equivalent of hauling a case of paper up the Calgary Tower.
All in all it was a decent weekend. It would have been better if everything was done backwards (i.e. start with the moving and end with the gaming) but cest la vie.
