Source also points out that it was, in fact, her idea and that she did craft the wording specifically to stop funding Planned Parenthood, but make it look non-political. This was a calculated attack.
Hopefully this kills her political prospects, though I suspect she'll portray herself as a martyr to the cause.
On the bright side, Planned Parenthood got a boost in their fundraising thanks to the huge backlash that Ms. Handel's ill-advised ban caused.

Date: 2012-02-07 09:48 pm (UTC)My friend Giavanna pointed out once that decade cultural shifts actually run slightly out of phase with their calendrical counterparts; that is,frex, that the hippie/free love/swinging sixties actually run more from 65 to 75, which means that we should be emerging from the conservative/big biz crazy fog just about now and moving to centre, with a liberal or leftist excess hitting around 2018 and peaking at the 2020 mark.
Of course, this assumes some catalyst event doesn't derail the process. If big biz gets a brain and some self-preservational instincts, we might avoid the excess part. OTOH, if some accelerating environmental shift comes into play, it might morph into an eco-warrior vision somewhat. Or some other apocalytical scenario, of which there are many.
Of course, in five years, we might all just be serfs grubbing a subsistence living on the edges of those big gated communities, and hoping that the terrorists don't lay waste to our crops next summer. What do I know?
