Viva Las Vegas
Feb. 2nd, 2012 09:34 pmSo we're going to Las Vegas. I managed to convince four other people to go. They, in turn, have convinced at least one other to go. I've also got two couples interested who might go if there is an alignment of time off, finances and the stars themselves.
Anyway, if you're interested, we're there over the Easter weekend and the week beyond. Specifically April 7th-12th. We're staying at the Bellagio, but you certainly don't have to. Plans for what we're actually doing are pretty vague at this point, but we're thinking the Viva Las Vegas Rockabilly Weekender, Jubilee, mini golf, and of course, the usual assortment of booze and gaming!

Date: 2012-02-03 05:09 am (UTC)At VLV I highly recommend:
- the jive competition
- the Burlesque (I saw the showcase, it was fabulous!)
- the pool party (just drinking from yer boot* o'booze on the grass, listening to surf...)
I had a great time at the concerts too (especially Wanda Jackson, but she's not there this year).
The car show is interesting, but unless you're into cars I'd skip it for a music event.
There were times I felt like an outsider there, and times I felt like things were just getting to an edge I wasn't comfortable with, and then somebody or something would turn the experience around for the better. It's not something I'm going to go to every year, but I definitely want to go back again (sadly, I can't manage to go this year.)
ETA: *The beer (PBR, naturally) is so friggin' cheap at VLV. Also, the signature drink at The Orleans comes in a big plastic boot, but they will put whatever you fancy in there for a rather reasonable price.
