The Trouble With iPods
Oct. 29th, 2010 02:38 pmI've got my iPod set to random shuffle. It's got a few thousand songs on it (and let's take a moment to marvel at the fact that this awesome, damn near miraculous, technological achievement is so ubiquitous now) so sometimes you get weird sequences of music that are jarring and wrong. Beethoven's 9th Symphony followed by Twisted Sister, or "We Built This City" followed by anything good.
I was listening to Queensrÿche's Eyes of a Stranger, which is the final song of Operation: Mindcrime. It's a song that distills the despair and madness of the whole album into one great operatic climax.
It was followed by "Shake it up" by the Cars. It was rather jarring.
In other news, I'm thinking about hitting Grey Eagle casino after archery tonight. We'll see if I can convince anyone else to go.
