Victoria/Vancouver:

Sat, Oct 9th, Go to Victoria via WS 0195 (12:35-13:03). Meet up with LB and check in to my hotel and collect my race kit. Find idle amusements to occupy my time in Victoria.

Sun, Oct 10th, Run the Royal Victoria Half-Marathon (7:30-10:00). Check out of hotel, catch a ferry to Vancouver and check in at the Metrotown Holiday Inn.

The rest of my time in Vancouver is pretty free-form. I plan on visiting people, and maybe getting in a meal at the Clubhouse, but other then that I'm open for anything. Maybe I'll run a one-shot RPG game.

Wed, Oct 13th, Return to Calgary via WS 0566 (19:30-21:47)

As you can tell, my Vic/Van adventures are not terribly well-planned out. That's because I have no need to - aside from the race, I'm there to relax and visit friends.

Las Vegas:

So it's looking pretty solid that I'm going to Vegas by myself. That's OK - it just means I don't have to negotiate with anyone over possible activities.

I booked with Expedia and I've since learned that - with the Vegas resorts at least - it's better to book your hotel room direct. This is because they don't do after-the-fact comps for third-party bookings. That is to say, if I gamble a lot (I don't plan to, but who knows) they might knock a few days off the bill. A more likely scenario is taking advantage of the resort's occasional room sales in combination with their price-matching policy.

Anyway, It's done, the room and flights are booked so it's out of my hand.

Thu, Nov 25th (my Birthday!), go to Las Vegas via AC 546 (8:40-10:20). Drop luggage off at the MGM Grand hotel (I'm trying to determine if they're good or not since the last trip yielded equal numbers of attentive, helpful and professional staff and complete assholes) , checking in if they'll let me do it that early.

Have lunch at the Burger Bar in Mandalay Bay. I am a little afraid though - their menu has no prices on it. That's usually a sign that the only people they want for customers are people who have so much money they don't have to look at the prices!

I'll then head over to the Luxor and catch Bodies and (of course) Titanic. Since it's all in the Luxor, my evening show will likely be Carrot Top. Don't laugh, he apparently puts on a hell of a show.

Friday is window shopping day. Cheap American liquor, the M&M store, high end crap in the Miracle Mile and Ceasars Forum. Along the way I'll see if I can have one of those fantastic crepes they sold at La Creperie in PLV. If I have time I might hit an outlet mall.

Later that evening Roger Waters is playing at my hotel. It's "The Wall, 30th Anniversary" tour. I don't have tickets (They're sold out unless I go to an online reseller). I plan on trying to get a last-minute rush seat. Being by myself, I stand a somewhat better shot at this. I haven't a clue how to go about this, so I'll just ask the concierge.

This also presents the problem of where I'm eating. I need to figure that out and make reservations before they all fill up (two of the ten high-end restaurants have already sold-out). If I do get tickets, I'll need to eat in the resort. If not, I can pretty much go anywhere i want.

Saturday I might go wandering off strip. I want to see the Atomic Testing Museum. I found out that the Liberace museum is closing a month before I arrive. It hadn't really been on my list of things to do, but now that it's going to be gone I regret not having the chance. Of course, attitudes like mine are exactly why it's closing.

Saturday Nov 27th at 19:00 I plan on seeing The Beatles LOVE (Beatles+Cirque du Soleil=squee!).

Sun, Nov 28th, return to Calgary via AC 547 (18:25-22:20). Likely much poorer, 'cause DAMN I'm spending way more money then I can afford. Meh - it's my birthday, and it's not like I'm going to need that money when I'm 80.

I've got a little things I'd like to do that are on no fixed schedule. Crazy Horse Paris, The Price is Right, drinking a yard-long margarita, losing a bunch of money at roulette.
