Funny Thing About St. John's - It's On the East Coast.

Looks like I'm heading to Newfoundland this summer for H&B's wedding. My flight is booked and I'll be making a pest of myself to garething and stephtopia for the lion's share of my time out there. We're all heading to Halifax for a few days too, since it's on the way and all.

Summer on The Rock. I hear it's beautiful.

I haven't booked rooms yet, mostly because I'm trying to find ways to not spend money. Possibly this will require large cardboard boxes, like the ones they put refrigerators into.

I'm also planning a car trip to Vancouver (which is on the west coast BTW) a few weeks earlier. Basically three days at the Tir Righ/Avacal War, followed by a week in Vancouver doing SFA.

And of course, there's Quad War.

On the off chance anyone wants to coordinate with me:

• T&A War (Clearwater, BC): June 25th - June 27th.
  
• Vancouver: June 27th - July 4th.
  
• Halifax: July 17th - July 19th.
  
• St. John's: July 19th - July 27th.
  
• Quad War (Marsden, SK): July 29th - August 2nd.

It's not Cuba, but it's still awfully good.

Halifax Heritage House Hostel - US$26/night for those dates - located on Barrington Street DT - FAR nicer area than the gottigen street hostel. A bit earlier and you would have been in Halifax for the International Tattoo

This is doable. You'll be out there quite a bit early. I'll be staying at the UBC Gage Residence (most likely) if you're looking for cheap accommodations.

I would likely make my way to the island where I have family I could stay with for the few days I'd be there early. Might be interested in hitting up res for a night or two though. How cheap are we talking?

About $45 bucks per night. The express bus stops outside so you can get pretty much anywhere important fast. However, it's student housing, so it's about equivalent to a hostel.

Haha. Well I just so happen to be a student! I live life on a fairly small budget, so I'm used to things that may not be the "nicest" by some people's standards... Also I'll be living in dorms at the marine science center for all of July and August anyway, so student housing is fine.

I'd likely make my way to T&A with R and then just continue on with you if that works ok for you? Let me know how much you'd want for gas etc. and I'll do the number crunching and figure out what route to Vancouver will work for me in the end!

You can buy me sushi at the Clubhouse on our first night in Vancouver. Don't worry, it's nothing like going to Tojo's.

Haha. Awesome. Although I'd love to be able to buy sushi at Tojo's because it's so damn good, I appreciate the lower standards for my wallet's sake :)

I'll let you know when I find out if I was accepted to the program at Bamfield and then we can make more concrete plans from there!
