The SCA is not worth dying for. Those roads were nightmarish.

3:15: left my house.
5:30: Decided this wasn't worth it (in the vicinity of TransCanada mall).
6:00: Made it to Cactus Club to grab a bite to eat.
7:30: Left Cactus Club.
9:30: Got home again.

Nearly 5 hours of time in the car and I never actually made it out of the city.

oh joy. What a way to spend a friday night. At least your safe and not a splatter on the road. Sorry you missed your event.

Wise decision. Having to bail on an event sucks, but better that then splatted on a highway.

I hope there wasn't anyone who had a major accident on the way to (or from) the event... I'm sure will all hear about it at the next event.

If you want a relaxing event you can always come up to Borealis Yule feast in a couple of weeks - hopefully the weather will cooperate.
