Asking For It

More wisdom from Slacktivist:
Case in Florida in 1984 (anecdote warning!) had a woman doing a little role-play with her husband by dressing as a 'bad girl' and letting him pick her up in a bar to go to a seedy motel. Mutual consent, married couple, nothing wrong with that... until the plan went astray and the husband was late (flat tire), and the other bar patrons made assumptions. She left the bar, was followed and raped in the parking lot. This is something I've always understood pretty much anytime after the girls have cooties stage. It is nice to see it so succinctly put though.
When brought to trial, the defense used the "she was asking for it, dressed like that" line.
The prosecutor countered: "She wasn't asking him."
Since I was of the age when I thought trying to meet girls in bars was a good idea, I took the concept to heart: being dressed provocatively may be an invitation, but it's probably not addressed to me.
