Beach and Burlesque

In addition to watching porn stars on Thursday, I also hung out at the beach with
bognaustroglum,
hadriel and K. Amusing, but not terribly noteworthy. Mostly I got to watch lots of women with awesome legs.
Afterwards, it was about 7:30 and I started up my phone again. Got a message from
somejauntypolka informing me that she and
hadriel were joining a friend's 40th birthday party at a burlesque show.
The show was put on by Sugar Bowl burlesque troop at Maxine's Hideaway and it was to start at 9:00. That gave me only an hour and a half to prepare and find the joint. Note that the Tinseltown theatre and Maxine's Hideaway are about as far apart as you can get and still be in downtown Vancouver. Also note that I was still in beachwear - totally unacceptable for any sort of live performance, with the possible exception of buskers. So I hit the mall really fast and picked up:
I figure if beautiful talented women are going to remove their clothing and shake their boobies at me, the least I can do is dress up.
Along the way I also managed to pick up a bag of chocolates, under the theory that
The theme was "flavours" and we had a blonde, brunette and redhead perform, they each did two numbers so there were six "acts" all together. The blonde seemed to be having the most fun. The redhead was (IMHO) probably the most attractive, but seemed very nervous (you could see her trembling). The brunette was the best overall dancer and performer. I'd probably check out a show with any of them again.
A major d'oh moment occured about halfway through. I realised this was going to be my last night out on the town while in Vancouver. I hadn't had a chance to get together with Annaheid and Kevin yet (I think Annaheid would make an exceptional burlesque dancer since she has a very classical look to her - think young Elizabeth Taylor). This would be right up their alley. And I didn't have their phone number because I was counting on simply emailing them any plans I might come up with. Crap!
According to
somejauntypolka there's a ton of burlesque troops in Vancouver. We only really have Kabuki Guns in Calgary. They're good, but I want to see more. I think searching for some (instead of simply tripping over it like I did this time) is in order for my next trip.
After the show I got a much welcomed drop off back at my room at UBC. My dorm-mates have slowly been taking over the public areas of the suite and the kitchen was now theirs. i retreated to my room and passed out from a truly fun day.

It was a little bit like when I was a child and my sister worked at the wig factory. I wanted to see it so she offered to look after me for the afternoon and took me on a tour one weekend. She took her boyfriend who worked in the Medical Examiner's office.Ahem. So anyway, we went our separate ways and I watched The Girlfriend Experience. During the movie my cell phone went off. Naturally this happened the one and only time that it was actually on - the Anthropic Principle writ small. I shut it off and finished watching the movie.
Now the problem was, at the time I was really short (yes I was very young) so I couldn't see the conveyor belts. The boyfriend was kind enough to get on his hands and knees and let me climb up on his back.
There I was, standing on the coroner, watching all the curls go by.

- Purple golf shirt.
- Belt.
- Dress shoes.
- Black socks.

- I was invading the birthday celebrations of a total stranger who was kind enough to let me tag along without even meeting me.
- There are probably 40-year old women out there who don't like chocolate, but that's not the smart way to bet.
