Silverponies!

I was going to bike to work today (-1 point getting to work, -2 coming back, yay!), but the rear tire is completely flat. This is a little alarming since I filled it last week, rode it to work and back and nary a problem.

Now I have to take it in to the shop or figure out how to fix it myself. Guess how "replacing the kitchen faucet myself" has worked out.

I'm dithering over going to Silverwolf this weekend. I really don't want to day trip because it's over three hours away. I could grab a hotel room for the night I guess, but there are none in Warburg, which means no drinking at the event because I'd have to drive back into Edmonton for the night.

Could someone from Borealis please explain to me why you keep holding events in every little hick town within an hour of Edmonton (rather then in Edmonton proper)? I know it's probably cheaper, but are the shy people without cars just not welcome?

It's Tuesday and I want it to be Friday. I also want to be somewhere else, like Cuba, or Vancouver. Also, I want a pony.

I could have an option for you. Since I come from Edmonton I know people around there where you might be able to crash. Nice people who are not crazy and it would mean a warm shower. :) If I ask them nicely. Or I might crash at my parents but they are out by Ardrossan.

Point is, you don't need to camp/ get a hotel if you don't want.

I don't know about other events but I think this location may have been chosen with equestrian stuff in mind... but seeing as you want a pony, that shouldn't be an issue for you! ;p

I have a very elaborate camp that takes a lot of space in the car and several hours of work to setup/tear down. That being the case, I only use it if I'm going to be on site for several days. I could use my minimal camp (smaller tent, air mattress, sleeping bags) I guess.

I know what you mean... we're looking at making a yurt & I'm not sure if I'd want to take that for just one or two nights. The current set up doesn't take too long... & we're going up on Friday evening. We gave up on air mattresses... it means we carry more bedding but I've not been cold since we started using the "new system" & at Coronet I added an extra item & I was very comfy as well as warm.

Edmonton proper has very few halls that hold the numbers we need to deal with. We also wanted this to be a two day sort of thing so there wouldn't be any question of people needing to drive if they wanted to drink and party. (Sure there are cabs in a city - but there are a lot of fools too.)
Ergo we needed a place that we could camp.

I'd offer my place - I have guest rooms, but since it's on the southwest side of Edmonton and I'm significantly east it wouldn't actually cut your travel time by much. (I think this site is going to tip into the 2hrs from home for me).

I was planing to daytrip - but some happy stuff has come up I'm going to try to swing it so I can stay Fri and Sat.

Honestly the number one reason it is held out of town is so we can have archery AT the event instead at the same time as the event. You cna't have archery in city limits so we have it out of town.

All the championships should have the same recognition and attendance and audience and having archery at another site makes it hard.

Plus now we cna have camping and equestrian - two elements everyone in the Barony wanted to add. Camping means no driving = ample celebration.

Oh and the site is a FRACTION of the cost too - which is necessary since we aren't charging : )
