Observations
May. 4th, 2009 05:47 pmI was paid a wonderful compliment the other day - I was told that not only did I have a great sense of humour, I also made an excellent straight man. This pleases me.
Why does every recipe that calls for onions, call for too many onions. Are onions much smaller where the books get made? The jambalaya recipe I have calls for "two medium onions". I put in one, and doubled everything else, and it still looks and smells like too many.
The Beltaine leftovers otherwise are making a decent jambalaya. I'm making far too much to eat in the next few days, so I'm likely to freeze a bunch of it to take to the event and consume Thursday night. The only drawback is I don't currently have a sense of smell or taste, so it might be spiced too hot or too weird. Also, my long term lack of cooking talent might thwart me. I just went into the kitchen thinking "What would
thebrucie do?" and went from there. Of course,
thebrucie doesn't often poison people accidentally, so we'll see.
May Crown is looking to be the good kind of epic. I've got food in the freezer and two and a half bottles of experimental hard apple cider. Thanks to
othelianna for doing most all of the work in making that. If we're lucky, nobody will go blind! Now if I only had the energy to finish some garage projects to make the camping easier.
I need to make sure that the occasional brunch still happens when Bruce eventually moves out.
Finally, having a cold really sucks.
