It's been awhile since I've done any gaming. [livejournal.com profile] garething has been running some Delta Green, but we haven't played it recently. I haven't done any game mastering since we finished Avatars a few years ago.

A few weeks ago, Lisa said she wanted to start playing again. I had been bugging her to game again for awhile and she said she didn't have time. Well now she had time, so she pencilled it into her day timer because that was they only way she would keep from rescheduling the time. This was a few weeks ago.

I assumed that something else would come up and therefore I completely forgot about it. Then she phoned up last night and said "We're still gaming tomorrow right?". "Um, yeah, of course we are" I said with the tone of someone completely surprised by a request out of left field.

On the bright side, the upcoming game has been in the back of my mind for about a month now so I do have plenty of ideas. Plus, I've GMed enough to be able to pull a rabbit out of my hat when necessary.

I got the phone call in the middle of Connie's birthday party last night. I was surrounded by a mundanes, so it was a little hard to explain my excitement. One thing came up though - as far as gaming histories go, my experience has been atypical. You see, I game with women. And I've done so in a near 50/50 mix since I started gaming. I attribute this to being in Grey Mountain Holt.

It's always been remarkable to me that more women aren't into gaming - most of the women I know enjoy it. It's certainly a very social hobby. I've heard numerous alarming reasons why more women don't like it (hint they don't like being patronized). I guess more male gamers need to be smacked upside the head.
