Second Biggest Melon in Avacal

So I went from E's place to mommaquilter's place to pick up an even larger helm, which measurements prior to my trip suggested might fit me. Turns out it's not that my melon is so large, but that it's uniquely misshapen - it's longer then most. The helm has slightly above minimum padding on the front and back (3/4" on the front and 1/2" on the back). And super-duper padding on the sides ( 1-3/4" per side). An improved gorget and some suspenders and I'm set. I'm going to get checked my final kit check and show I know the rules of the lists:

1. Practice safe bashing - always wear appropriate protection.
   
2. You must be authorized according to the rules of the Big Kahuna.
   
3. The Big Kahuna must grant his seal of approval.
   
4. You must be at least this high to ride the bumper cars, unless Big Kahuna makes an exception. Note, if you can't fit in the bumper cars, it doesn't matter what Big Kahuna says.
   
5. Big Kahuna will most likely ban your bows and arrows eventually. Cope. Oh alright, it could be any weapon, but we all know they're not going to start banning swords. Well maybe an individual sword, but not all of them.
   
6. Play nice.
   
7. You don't have to play with anyone you don't want to.
   
8. Don't bring a gun to the knife-fight.
   
9. They get real pissy if you throw things in tournaments. Could be an arrow, could be a tomato, it doesn't matter. See rule 5.

Possibly I'll need to clean up that language. Hopefully this will be sufficient to allow me to participate in the Quick and the Dead combat archery duel at Estrella and also in the upcoming Borealis Winter War. Many many people have made it fairly clear to me that I could win a thousand archery tournaments but I'm not really in the SCA until I've actually armoured up and gone out on the field. This is mighty galling, but I figured I better try it to see if it's fun and try not to let that attitude sour me to it.

Winter War is between Team Sausage and Team Clam this year. So far Team Sausage (in the form of thekillerb69) has been really pushing for me to join them. I'm convinced that Team Clam can make a better offer, but there's been few overtures. There's an analogy I could make for my life here, but I'm fairly certain I don't want to go there.

I'm impressed by the wording, nicely put!

I'd say that #4 should read more like "When playing in the Big Kahuna's Cousin's Castle, remember it's his roof so his rules. If he chooses not to enforce his rules because he's friendly with the Big Kahuna, so be it."

And rule 5 isn't a combat style wide ban, just a ban on an unsafe weapon, no matter what design.

Also, I'm glad to hear the helm finally worked out. Now lets get you authorized!

Sadly, I really don't know which side I"ll be on. I just have visions of being on the receiving end of the Mighty Mass of Five and cringe. Though to be honest I've gotten a bit better at dodging over the year so...

As long as The Baroness promises to not shoot me in the back of the head, I'm pretty sure it's a given to fight for Her Majesty.

I hate to point out the flaw in your plan but you're assuming that even if she makes that promise, do you really think she can physically follow through? You're much safer from her bolts on the king's side, at least you have a chance at seeing them coming :)

I think on principle, no my friend. I will bravely stand tall in the face such a ... mass of men.

I've discovered I go under a shield wall charge rather well and that opens up a whole lot of possibilities on me ganking you from below while you flail way above. ;P

Come one! Whats team sausage plying you with? Long links of their spicy meat? Team clam is where its at!
