So I had a radical thought this week. I lose weight when I follow the process (which I haven't been doing consistently, hence the weight gain). But what I'm rewarding is the results. Clearly a better mechanism is to reward the process itself and let the weight loss take care of itself.
So when I have succeeded in collecting ten completed weekly journals, I'm rewarding myself with a trip to Vancouver, regardless of whether I look like Mr. Creosote or not.

Date: 2009-01-16 03:26 am (UTC)I'd been thinking that I'd buy a new pair of shoes when I lost 10 lbs, but maybe I should buy them after sticking to my plan for 6 weeks. Or maybe different rewards for sticking to the plan like buying shoes and things you really want and going out to the movies for reaching milestones? Or maybe just both.
Great idea James.
