Being Sick Sucks
Oct. 25th, 2002 07:45 pmIn retrospect, I should have known I was ill when my morning run was only 200 meters.
I had my flu shot on Tuesday - it must have worked because it gave me a short bout of the flu. To be fair, they warned me that one of the possible side effects was "flu-like symptoms for 1-3 days after receiving the shot".
Wednesday saw my very short morning run - which baffled me because I didn't feel I lacked energy until I tried running. By late afternoon I was feeling terrible and I decided to leave work early.
Being obsessive-compulsive about gaming, my illness didn't actually stop me from having
mfiles, Marci and Rob over for a few hours of MTA that night. However, I did pass out within five minutes of saying good-bye.
Twelve hours of coma-like sleep followed by a day off from work and I'm back up to 75% efficiency. On the bright side I did manage to finally watch a video I had borrowed off of a coworker (it's been sitting on my "to watch" pile for about 9 months). You can read the review here.
It's actually something of a relief - for the last several months, I've been very worried about getting sick. I really really wanted to finish my running program, and the reason it's taken me four years is because every time I've gotten close I've been sidelined by injury, illness or the ass-biting cold.
