[livejournal.com profile] thebrucie and I bowled yesterday. There was no one else in the bowling alley except the staff. Keep in mind that the Silver Dollar has fifty lanes.

I never realized just how loud bowling was. Normally there is a constant barrage of white noise while bowling, caused by all the other bowlers. When you bowl by yourself it's a little disconcerting.

Thunk. Rumblerumblerumblerumble. Ker-Smash. kunkkunkkunkkunk. rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. Whabump.

Both [livejournal.com profile] thebrucie and I were off our games - Bruce, because he couldn't find a decent ball until the middle of the second game and me because I suck. We played two really awful games (the scores of which we have sworn a blood oath never to reveal) and a pretty good third game for both of us (final score, [livejournal.com profile] thebrucie: 202, Me: 144). Not the best session of bowling I've ever had, but certainly one of the oddest.

Afterwards, Bruce dropped me off at my folks place because I wanted to check up on my Mom (after her overnight trip to the hospital she was more pissed-off than worried about her health - I consider that a good sign). As we pull up to my parent's house my cell phone rings.
[livejournal.com profile] quixote317: "Hello"
[livejournal.com profile] wendy_licious (on the other end): "Hi. Where aren't you?"
[livejournal.com profile] quixote317: "Well, as I'm currently in Bruce's truck, I would guess I aren't everywhere else" Inwardly shuddering at the murdered grammar that had just passed my lips.
[livejournal.com profile] wendy_licious: "You didn't go bowling."
[livejournal.com profile] quixote317: "Actually, I did. Bruce and I played three games and left."
[livejournal.com profile] wendy_licious: "Well you should have waited."
[livejournal.com profile] quixote317: "Wendy, what time is it now?"
[livejournal.com profile] wendy_licious: "3:15."
[livejournal.com profile] quixote317: "...And what time did we say bowling was at?"
[livejournal.com profile] wendy_licious: "2:00."
[livejournal.com profile] quixote317: "So whose fault is this?"
[livejournal.com profile] wendy_licious: "Yours."
[livejournal.com profile] quixote317 (sighing): "I'll see you at the barbecue tomorrow."
[livejournal.com profile] wendy_licious: "Tell your heterosexual life partner he's invited too."
[livejournal.com profile] thebrucie (From stage left): "I heard that."
[livejournal.com profile] quixote317: "I will let my roommate know he's invited."
Wendy's a sweetie - but it isn't going to save her from getting beat.

Of course, I wasn't really expecting [livejournal.com profile] wackynephews and [livejournal.com profile] wendy_licious to show up for bowling (they seemed underwhelmed when I phoned them Friday night). I was expecting JMark to show up though, mostly because he said "Yes, I'll be there". He never showed up or called. Perhaps I misinterpreted what he said?
