I hate it when I'm a dumb ass about computers. I shouldn't be, I'm generally very good with them.

One of my self-imposed tasks is maintaining the Avacal Tournament of Tournaments - a compilation of how all the Avacal archers do in all of this year's tournaments. For completeness, I've been putting the results on a web page for easy viewing (and so competitors can easily check it for errors).

It has been quite tedious because part of it is a great big table that needs to be continually expanded. I've been using Dreamweaver for Macintosh and table manipulation requires glacial patience, so I've been avoiding it. Instead I manipulate the HTML tables by hand, moving people up and down depending on their score, adding rows and columns as required by newer archers and tournaments. It's tedious and time consuming.

Today I thought - hey, wouldn't it be great if I could just take all my spreadsheet data and just export it as HTML - it would cut my coding time down by a factor of magnitude. Boy, I sure wish someone had a program to do that.

I check my spreadsheet program (Open Office) and of course it does it. If only I'd thought to look months ago

In my first year intro to computer sciences, the professor said the following:
"To be a great programmer you must have three traits:
1).Sloth. If you are lazy then you will be more willing to find the easier more elegant solution rather then pounding the same thing over and over again.
2).Patience. This is quite self-explanatory.
3).Humility. Knowing that even the greatest computer programming guru can be halted for days because of a simple sign flip or absence of a semi-colon."

I think you got that humility part. ;-)
