For the hell of it I took an extra day off this weekend to make it a nice even four days. It will be tomorrow, so I don't actually have to go to work until Wednesday.

Friday was archery followed by some socializing at Limericks Pub. Nothing earth-shattering there, but it was pleasant.

Saturday I slept in late.

[livejournal.com profile] sagaciouslu, [livejournal.com profile] conejita_diabla and [livejournal.com profile] garething came over to visit. Badger helped me to get my garage door fixed, broken earlier by my sister. I was very lucky in that I kept the piece that broke off and also still had the manual. The piece just snapped right back onto the chain (which made me feel a little foolish since I could have done that myself). The hard part was later when we discovered that there are two extensions on the chain that trigger the motor to stop/reverse direction. Said pieces were missing.

A quick walk to Crappy Tire and we managed to cobble together parts that would attach to the chain and trigger the switches without breaking them. Badger put the whole thing together while I stood around like the evil scientist's minion.

I was invited over to their (Badger and Bunny) place to hang out before heading to the pub for the birthday festivities. I made them (and the birthday girl) cookies and Badger whipped up some sausage, zucchini and pasta the equal of any restaurants.

That boy is talented. [livejournal.com profile] conejita_diabla, I recommend keeping him.

We drove over to the Hop in Brew and met up with our birthday girl, [livejournal.com profile] othelianna. Joining the fun was [livejournal.com profile] thebrucie, [livejournal.com profile] naughtynat07, [livejournal.com profile] thekillerb69, [livejournal.com profile] devoidofthought, [livejournal.com profile] blue_flydragon and [livejournal.com profile] ishansonofbrand as well as a few unfortunate people lacking in Livejournals. Rosie's wish was to drink all the colours of the rainbow. After 11 drinks, we had succeeded in covering Roy G Biv, as well as black, brown, white and pink.

I stuck to Diet Libres myself, as well as a McNally's Reserve, which was a bit too dark for my taste.

I had a good time. I think hanging out with my friends at a pub or restaurant is one of my favorite things in the world.

Sunday I slept in late.

Waking I decided to continue on the Grand Purge. Today's edition was getting rid of all the superfluous computer equipment in the house and garage. As I had gotten rid of the last three working frankensystems in the house, I figured now was the time. I still have sufficient parts to make two full systems, except that I'm missing motherboards and CPUs. Drives, cards, memory and cables I all have plenty of. So much so that about half the mass was getting rid of all but the very latest peripherals. I event tossed out four old CRT monitors.

My usual plan for computer junk is to take it down to the Calgary Farmer's Market because there's an ecycle depot there. nosarious joined me because, hey, free trip to the Farmer's Market. The stuff was dropped off and we went to park the car, only to find (at 2:20 pm) that the parking lot was nearly empty. Seems they wanted to close early to let all the farmers go home for Thanksgiving. Whoops.

So Ger suggested lunch at Olives on the far east end of downtown (4th street east and 12th avenue - in the demilitarized zone basically). I'm very glad we went because the food was fantastic. He also introduced me to the staff. Ger you see works for the company that owns the restaurant. Among the highlights were awesome food, professional service, friendly behind-the-scenes chatter, and a free dessert platter prepared by Corrine, the resident dessert chef. Corrine stands out for another reason - she looks like a younger version of [livejournal.com profile] ya_inga - to the point where I actually asked her if she had an older sister in Edmonton. This was one of two [livejournal.com profile] ya_inga look-alikes that I saw that day (the other was at the bar later, and the resemblance wasn't nearly so close, being generic Valkrie rather then a specific family look).

We went back home and I realized that I was running stupidly late for the day (my mental clock was a couple hours behind). The Airdrie party I was invited to was just starting and I hadn't even showered yet!

A quick clean-up followed by the donning of the formal wear I had bought the week before (tuxedo shirt and tales for $10 - and they damn near fit perfectly) and I rushed off to [livejournal.com profile] wendy_licious and [livejournal.com profile] wackynephews annual orphan's Thanksgiving party. I got there in time to have a small amount of turkey and a slice of pie. My calorie intake for the day was probably off the chart since I had just had lunch about two hours earlier. Oh well, it's Thanksgiving.

I chatted with the hosts and a few of the guests and basically hung out for a few hours. It was fun, though I feel more and more like an outsider every time I go over there - not because of Wendy and Ryan you understand, but just because they hang out with a different group then they did years ago. it's just one of those things that have changed and I put no value judgments on it. It is what it is.

After the Thanksgiving Party I went to the kink event that I outline in great detail in my earlier (f-locked) post. Short version for my more anonymous readers: Entertaining, but not my thing. I might go again and I might not, depending on my future mood.

Monday I slept in late.

Cleaned the car, bought some groceries, went and had a quiet meal out and read a book. Monday was a day for light chores and recharging the batteries. As much as I enjoy socializing every night, I just can't keep up the pace. Plus I want to let my friends have a break from me, so that I won't offend them quite so quickly.

Don't know what Tuesday has in store, but I predict I'll sleep in late.
