There's talk of making Avacal a Kingdom. Discussions on Yahoo::avacal_circus continue.

I feel an urge to jump into the discussion.

I also feel the urge to make politically incorrect observations that I'm sure lots of people are thinking, but are unwilling to say.

I also have paperwork due. I suppose I should work before I play.

What politically incorrect observations might those be?

I think we should just do it, become a Kingdom. Put the wheels into motion and follow through. If it works, great. If it fails, we learn. If we do nothing we'll still be having this discussion 5 or 10 years from now. Let's just do it!

Yeah - I think I just posted basically that to the circus. I have nothing to loose, and can't commit political suicide any more then I already have in the past.

We've been discussing this for five years... frankly I'm sick to death of all the discussing; and am of the opinion we should all jump into the fire already.

We did? Cool...

I agree with Better to try and fail then to fail to try. Doesn't that really just sum it up?

*Shrug* Can't be bothered to read all these postings through. All this effort wasted in the breath could be better used just doin' it.

I am confident that you are being facetious.

It's still yuck to think that someone would genuinely feel that way....no one from Avacal I hope

no offense meant to you and some a few of the Lovely montegard people i met when I lived up there, But if Avacal became a its own kingdom, I would play in An Tir Again. I think it is the best possible solution for the Society as a Whole with gas prices and International borders

Knowing what I do honey - Avacal being a kingdom or not changes nothing in that regard. James is right - the only question should be if you want to attend events. The people whose paths you wish not to cross will still attend events in An Tir regardless of whether we are a kingdom or not. They have so many ties south of the border.

Play or don't play only because of your own desires not because of the chances of seeing people who you have horrid past with. If I did that, I'd never go to an event ; )

Sorry for the hijack James...

tis ok Miss Inga. Things got out of hand on both parts. I have made the choice not to play. I am comfortable with that. I actually have a pretty happy life now. I do miss seeing you and some of the others.
I choose not to buy into the Drama. I love ya honey

(Sorry James......)

Thanks Sweets. That means alot. I would rather take all that money I was spending for events, and SCA stuff & use it to Travel the world and hang out in Real Castles and other medieval sites.

Events were starting to stress me out anyway...No fun in that. beside the Drama that I observed many times....Just not worth it.

I think that you should make whatever observations you wish dear.

I also think that if folks choose to not verbalize their feeling - politically correct or not - then they shouldn't be gripey when things don't come out the way they'd like.

Stand up and have your say. If we are only cautious in our public voices - what good are they?

I believe it's a question of not WHAT you say but HOW it's said. Something people tend to get hung up on a lot.

Being cautious does not mean you cannot get your point across. I applaud an individual with eloquent and succinct comments.

Honestly, why ruffle feathers if not doing so gets the point across better and with less hassle?

Fair enough but I hear so many folks who allow caution to silence them or cripple their intent. I suppose OVER cautious is a better wording.

Over cautious I can agree with. Perhaps let's move it towards sober second thought.

Be cautious, test the waters and treat the whole affair like a business environment. Say more when you know more. Comprimise can be an interesting possibility too though I suppose at some point some one is going to have stand up and say "Make it SO!" (Ah Picard, my hero).

Of course then you get someone else saying "NO!" and then well...

At this point personally I say horray for the kingdom of Avacal and in the end, I will still keep trucking along with the things I seem to have gotten myself into. Kingdom or not, they still need tending to. And will go forward with or without a nifty new set of crowns.

Now if only someone could give me a raise so I can spend more money on this damn hobby...
