Poor Planning
Jul. 7th, 2008 03:53 pmI rode my bike to work today. Clothing consisted of jeans and a t-shirt (because it's Stampede week) as well as the requisite bicycle helmet. No jacket or hoodie.
Now a big damn prairie thuderstorm is blowing through the NW. If I'm very lucky it will end by 5 pm when I leave work.
I'm not lucky.

Date: 2008-07-07 10:08 pm (UTC)I sometimes forget that friends will help me out. I desperately avoid being put into a situation where I need to ask for that sort of emergency help because of the imagined negative responses.

Date: 2008-07-08 09:26 pm (UTC)There was a while in Calgary when the storm would blow in somewhere between five and seven, last half an hour and then dissipate. After being caught once, I was careful to time my ride home accordingly. The drizzle started as I began cycling. It then grew to a downpour and hailstorm, to the point I was considering stopping and rolling under a parked car for protection. It actually short circuited my cycling computer (speedometer/odometer for those non-cyclists). After a half hour ride, and as I was unlocking my garage to put the bicycle away, the rain stopped and the sun came out.
