Livejournal is important for one reason - its content. Basically we, the LJ community, create the content.

As Livejournal's new corporate masters have been making changes in a completely arbitrary and heavy-handed way, they only way we can show them our displeasure is by a content strike. Well, we could all just quit too, but I suspect that's unlikely, plus I don't really want to quit.

What sort of changes? Removing basic accounts. Removing "controversial" user interests. Not informing anyone of the changes that have been made.

So yeah, go on strike with the rest of us. That means avoid LJ for 24 hours, from Friday midnight GMT to Saturday midnight. When is that local time, find out here. Incidentally, that's 6 pm tonight here in Cowtown.

No writing, no reading, no commenting.

And if you've heard that this is being done for discrimination against any individual in LJ management, it's not. This strike is against a badly thought out corporate policy only.

Can they do whatever they want with their property? Sure. Just like we can decide not to go along with them for a day. Or longer if necessary.

Oh yeah, spread the news. This only works if we can get strikers that the effect is noticed.

You do realize that they won't care, right?

Move to wordpress....

You can even import your LJ history/entries into a new account there so you won't lose anything.
