I wimped out and drove to work today. No reason other then wanting to not be too late. Certainly it was plenty warm - the foot of snow we got last night was already starting to melt.

I did get some exercise - I shoveled the walk. One of the joys of being on a corner lot is the fact that I have more parking then any of my neighbors. The drawback is I have the most sidewalk to shovel of all of my neighbors.

Anyway, I drove to work. The drive was OK because - and if you're a Calgarian you'll see what a miracle the was - 90% of the route was already plowed. I even found a nice close parking spot for a change.

As I walked into the building, I spotted an odd bit of movement out of the corner of my eye. I look down to see a spider following me into the building. WTF? It's February in Canada. We just got a foot of snow last night. There shouldn't be a spider anywhere within 500 Km, much less following me into my building.

I let it live, because I figure spiders eat bugs I don't want and generally don't bother me. I just hope it doesn't starve to death in the sterile environment where I work.

I'm still stuck on the part where it was following you into the building.... Enough considering where it came from let alone where it may be off to. I hope the one I found wandering around E's place will survive too... at the time it was -30°C.

Spider huh?
I had a narrow path right next to the fence next to Garth's apartment complex to walk in. Most of the walk to work consisted of guestimating where the sidewalk was.
Still that is odd to see a spider at this time of year in these conditions

bugs in winter

Funny you should mention the spider. I was washing up dishes on the weekend and noticed a ladybug crawling around my dish drainer. As you say it's Canada, Februrary (and I'm in Edmonton, no Chinooks here!) and cold. No idea where it came from (Produce from grocery store is the only option I can think of).

Weird.

Are you insinuating that there are no bugs in your coworkers or your code?
