The Trauma Wiped the Event From My Mind.

jamesqI seek help from the hive mind that is LJ.
I was thinking about the worst SF movie of all time. Unfortunately, I can't remember the name.
Basically, the earth is hit simultaneously by three separate meteorites at the same time, from different directions. I think one was in France, one was in America and the last was in China or somethings.
Analyzing this, they find a lone survivor at each location speaking in some kind of stuttering gibberish. Our heros put the gibberish together and discover that it's a message! i.e. when you play the gibberish from all three survivors at the same time, they each fill in each others gaps. Sort of like they each took turns saying a word.
The message? Aliens are coming to visit and they want to say "Hi". They do this by throwing a dino-killer asteroid at your north pole.
Say what? Scientists have a looksy and see that it's on their way. They have 1/2 an hour to stop it. They do this by having American and Russian fighters shoot it down with their missiles.
This apparently was the wrong answer because the aliens get irritated and decide to bombard the Earth instead. The movie closes with dozens of incoming meteors appearing on the view screens of our heroes command post. The world ends. Credits roll.
Tell me this wasn't some insane fever dream that my subconscious dreamed up. Tell me the name of the movie!
