1. Can you cook?
I can, but I'm a slow cook. I need lots of time to think about what a "real" cook would simply do.
2. What is your signature main dish?
Not sure I have one. I have had multiple requests for my Cajun Meat Loaf.
3. What is the largest group of people you have cooked for?
Ten to Twelve for the above Cajun Meat Loaf.
4. Organic or regular groceries?
Whichever is available and better quality. I don't automatically assume organic == better.
5. Do you buy your food through a CSA or at a Farmers Market?
Sometimes. I mostly go to the farmers' market to get things I can't get at a grocery store.
6. Are you allergic to any foods?
I'm happy to report that I don't have any allergies.
7. What is your comfort food?
Half and half - the Cyr family recipe, consisting of spaghetti, ground beef and baked beans. Haven't had it in years because I don't have the recipe. I need to talk to my sister about that.
8. Chocolate good?
Of course. About 70% dark is my preference. And of course anything by Bernard Callebaut is the closest humanity will come to heaven-on-earth without the removal of clothing.
9. What is the most exotic food item you have eaten?
Elk and Boar medallions from Wildwood Grill. That or some of the more esoteric pieces of sushi I've tried.
10. Do you have an unforgettable memory of a dining experience?
Several. Tojo's in Vancouver; any of the times I've been at Ma's Clubhouse (also in Vancouver); Wildwood grill in Calgary; My recent visit to Booker's Crab Shack in Calgary. Arbroath Smokies in Arbroath. All positive memorable experiences. I've also had some memorably bad experiences. The King's Head pub in Vancouver for breakfast stands out as probably the worst service that I should have walked out on but didn't.
11. Do you collect Cookbooks?
Kinda/sorta. I have multiple cookbooks and I feel the urge to buy them whenever I see a good one. The only thing stopping me is the knowledge that I'll probably only ever use one or two recipe's from the book.
12. Are you good at Baking?
I am. I find that you're either good at cooking or baking, but not both. Cooking is an art, baking is a science. I'm a scientist.
13. What is your best item you bake?
My chocolate chip cookies of course. I do need to try some other recipes though. From those cook books I bought!
14. Do you drink alcohol?
I do, though I'd prefer it taste like something other then alcohol.
15. Your favorite drink?
Pina Colada.
16. Name your favorite Dessert.
There are so many. I don't want the other desserts to feel left out if I mention a favorite.
17. What is your favorite Snack food?
Buttered popcorn.
18. Would you share food off your plate at a restaurant?
I've been known to. I need to know the person well, and I'd better have enough to share. A taste of my steak? Sure. The last piece of unagi? Not a chance.
19. Is the table setting important to you at sit down meal?
Only so far as I have utensils that can get the job done. Other then that I'm a "Keep your fork, Duke, there'll be pie" kind of guy.
20. Name a food that you have never had yet want to try.
In the short term, I want to try the "exotic game fondue" at Grizzley House in Banff. In the long term, I want to try a Moreton Bay Bug. Preferably when I visit Moreton Bay!

It really does!

Although... my mother once bought allspice not realizing that it was for desserty goodness. She added it to stuff like chicken. *facepalm* Not a lot, as she thought it wasn't a great spice, but all the same, it's all about if it SMELLS like it belongs. *snickers* I'm not sure how she didn't catch the distinctly cinnamon/clove smell of it.
