Trivial Pursuits

Many years ago I played NTN with a couple guys. One of them bragged about how smart he was - how he had an IQ of 150 and never lost at trivia.

I kicked his ass.

The moral of this story is, don't trash talk people before a trivia game by bragging about your smarts. This was underlined today when I bragged about how smart I was to conejita_diabla, and how I always win trivia games.

She kicked my ass.

First game, all the questions were about Barcelona and we started in the middle. Next game, ass kicking. And my NTN terminal conked out on question 12 (not that I could have made up the 3000 or so points she was ahead even if the terminal worked).

We decided to quit there, mostly because I'm an old man now and can't stay out late anymore because I have to take my Geritol® right before my early bedtime. Ironically, in the half-hour that it took our bovine-inspired server to bring the bill, I would have gotten 1000 points each on about 13 out of 15 questions for the next game.

It was fun, but I want to pick either another pub, or a night when there isn't a Stanley Cup game in progress.

Where did you go?

Melrose. It was OK because we found a dark corner to geek out on. People avoided it because the two TVs were playing NTN instead of the game.
