Decimation, as I understood it, was the killing of 1 in 10. It's only recently that people think that decimation means to wipe out a population. It's kind of sad, since the hint is in the word itself.

I'm pretty anal about word usage. To this day, I go trolling around years-old posts of mine to fix spelling errors. It's the homonyms that fuck me up the most.
