Doing a search of a "things to do in Edinburgh" website I discovered that Man of La Mancha is playing while I'm in town. If I can't get tickets to that, Starlight Express is also playing. Of course, seeing Starlight over La Mancha is a little like settling for a kick in the nuts over a blowjob on the assumption that they're both about manipulating the genitals.

I'm confused...it looks to me like both Man of La Mancha and Cats on Skates end before you get there (and great analogy, btw), and you should have Guys and Dolls. Depending on when you get there, you might also be able to see The One-Man Star Wars Trilogy (http://www.eft.co.uk/whatson/events_display.asp?articleid=461)...looks fun. :-)

I'll be in Loch Ness hunting mythology on the day of the Star Wars play. And you're right, about missing both plays - I must have mistyped my dates. The bad news being: no BJ. The good news: No kick in beanbag. This makes me both sad and relieved.

Starlight express is fun to watch, but the songs are very wordy. Its sort of a classic you have to see once to say you've seen it, and then run around seeing all sorts of other shows.

(I haven't seen Man of La Mancha *yet*, but of the CD's its music is more catchy.)

My problem with Andrew Lloyd Webber is that, after seeing Elephant! I just can't take his stuff seriously.

Nothing stopping me from catching a show in London and Edinburgh (and Paris - though I think I'd prefer the opera in that case as I won't be able to understand them anyway).

Of course, after reading conejita_diabla's reply I double checked. Either the website's database was wrong or I messed my dates up by a month. In either case Man of la Mancha is not playing. Damn them to hell.

Heh...I'm personally very intrigued by DR in Equus. I think were I on the same continent, I'd have to go. It just seems so utterly wrong, and yet has had such good reviews...

I'd only go if the play intrigued me. Seeing DR's wang is just not that interesting to me.

No, it is the play that's the intriguing part. It's some very deep, dark, fucked up material, and the fact that he supposedly does it very well fascinates me. I don't give a damn about his wang...

Oh, I didn't mean to imply that that was why you were interested in seeing it. It's just that every review I've read made a point of mentioning DR's full frontal nudity.
