An interesting blog I read about fundamentalism, and the problems it's having retaining people.

http://www.pacificviews.org/weblog/archives/002609.html

Short version:
"Christian fundamentalism has three great enemies in the struggle to retain its children, judging by the stories its apostates tell: weaknesses in its own teachings, science, and hypocrisy."
All of which say that when reality goes up against mythology, reality generally wins.

Jesus, I hope so, because it sure looks to me like reality is losing.

The dogma of scripture tends to result in an amazing number of "facts don't matter" arguments. They wind up arguing the earth is flat, even when there is a mountain of rational evidence to the contrary.
