Teeth and Traffic
Mar. 20th, 2007 12:14 pmI had an early appointment to get my teeth cleaned (and the fact that my mouth doesn't hurt right now is testament to my high standards of dental hygiene).
As I was downtown anyway, I figured I'd get an SCA chore out of the way. My Police Information Check - a background check that basically tells anyone that I haven't been convicted of a crime recently. We use this for people who need to look after financial duties in the Barony, and also for people who work with children. Thus far we have two of them. We should have a lot more. However, before I start nagging everyone else, I figured I'd get mine out of the way.
Traffic and the lack of parking in Downtown Calgary thwarted me. I'll have to do it again sometime when I'm taking a train. On the plus side, this gives me a chance to create "official" letterhead for the barony's non-profit group. With that, the background check costs $5 instead of $30. That I can make the letterhead myself doesn't seem to have occurred to the powers that be.
My second council meeting is tomorrow and we still don't have a final financial statement for 2006. And I need to contact the province and tell them that we still exist. Ugh.
