I saw Star Wars: Attack of the Clones. It doesn't really matter whether I liked it or not - you're all going to go see it regardless of my opinion.

Having said that, I liked it - a lot more than I liked Spider-man. George Lucas has made a movie that accentuates his strengths as a director and minimizes his weaknesses:

Strengths: Action sequences, imaginative vistas, memorable weirdos and exposition.

Weaknesses: Romance, child actors, realistic dialog.

Which is to say that AotC was a fast-paced rocket-ship ride that only slows down occasionally for the awkward preordained romance between Anakin and Padmé,

Some observations:

Padmé, when trying to discourage a fellow's romantic intentions, wearing a low-cut leather bondage outfit in a cosy room lit only by the fireplace while you sit side-by-side on a loveseat is what we call "sending mixed signals". Or maybe she's just a cock-tease. That, or old George has the hots for Natalie Portman.

The Skywalker clan has an interesting set of genetics or midichlorians or whatever. I see evidence of a dominant gene for whininess (Anakin and Luke) as well as a dominant gene for dying-on-cue (Shmi and Anakin). My prediction for Star Wars 9: So Very Tired - If Luke Skywalker dies, he will do it in the arms of a descendant.

Go see it. Check your brain at the door and have a good time.
