Called up my dentist today and slipped myself into the spot left from a cancellation. Found out that it wasn't my filling that broke, it was the tooth surrounding it! So Dr. D froze my mouth and rebuilt it with more filling. He did his usual quick and efficient work and I only had to take an hour off work.

Now I have a tooth that is 85% filling. Soon, I'll be setting off the metal detectors at the airport just from the metal in my teeth!

The break, the waiting and the work - none of it hurt (mostly because that tooth had been the site of a root canal years ago - no more nerves). Now my mouth is sore though, because my gums are bruised from being frozen. Just more evidence of my intrinsically backwards nature. Since I'm also aging backwards, I won't complain too much.

S'why I almost never get frozen any more. I'd rather the quick pain/discomfort during the filling, than the much longer aftereffects of the freezing. And I've had a lot done recently - I had to get some done because I went years without going in, plus I'm getting all of my metal ones replaced with non-metal ones...
