...Which is to say, my real birthday sucked so I wanted a do-over - and I got one!

Yesterday was [livejournal.com profile] catalytic and [livejournal.com profile] madeileen's Non-Traditional Christmas Party. The theme this year was German, which led to numerous, repeated, politically incorrect jokes. Last year I felt like a wallflower. Not this year.

To meet the theme, I stopped off at the Farmer's market and picked up some Mettwurst and Pefferwurst. Fried those up and also made some Rice Crispies Crack Squares (melt 1 mars bar, 1 macintosh toffee bar and 1/4 pound butter together and mix in Rice Crispies - top with icing if you want to add insult to injury). I goofed the recipe by accidentally doubling the amount of butter (as was pointed out by many, you can't goof up this kind of recipe by adding more butter. It tasted fantastic). When I scooped out the squares, there was about five tablespoons of chocolaty/sugary/buttery goo. Had I been thinking, I'd have made popcorn with it! I think I gained five pounds just thinking that up.

[livejournal.com profile] thebrucie and [livejournal.com profile] nosarious joined me at the party and I think I barely talked to them the whole time we were there. Instead I socialized with a ton of other people that I don't really know. This was damn near a Livejournal party - among the other familiar names were [livejournal.com profile] hislittlekitty, [livejournal.com profile] gifted_spirit, [livejournal.com profile] conejita_diabla, [livejournal.com profile] canadianknight and [livejournal.com profile] whackychick. I'm sure there were others, but I don't know their handles as our journals don't intersect. Can anyone fill me in?

The party itself was a blast. Nothing special happened, but my mood was perfect. I chatted with lots of people, got to tell some great stories and there were times when I was literally surrounded by sexy women (some of whom were sitting in my lap). For a brief shining instant I was as chatty, witty and charming as I wish I could be all the time. All of my positive traits were on display and none of the negative ones made an appearance. What the hell happened I don't know, 'cause damn I wish I could do that more often!

Big Damn thanks to our hosts, Joel and Ronya and to all the other guests who helped me to have a spectacularly good time!

I also did a stupid amount of driving yesterday, going from Dalhousie to Sherwood to Dalhousie to Rundle to Dalhousie to Currie Barracks to Uptown to Sunalta to Dalhousie to Meridian to Bridgeland to Dalhousie to Rundle to Braeside to Lakeview to Dalhousie. Phew!

Hm, messed up Danielle's tag somehow, and since I can't edit I just have to re-write it as [livejournal.com profile] iyelli.
