I hobbled down to the race and made my way to the medical tent. A doctor had a look at my leg. The verdict? Pulled ham string with pretty severe inflammation. Treatment? Rest, time and ice. No deep tissue massaging. The big mystery is how it happened. It wasn't a sudden onset it just sorta got worse as the day went on.

I've had these sorts of injuries before (not in this spot mind you). The acute pain lasts for three days and then becomes manageable. In the mean time, I'm taking some Advil gel caps. Can't say they're doing much good though.

I think I'm going to cab/ferry back to Vancouver, rather then bus/ferry back.

Momentary loss of balanace.

I've never had a hamstring pull, but I have had the odd mistep in the middle of walking after losing my balance. The pain is never as severe at the time as it is when you keep walking on it.

I hope you feel better soon. I've had to limit my runs lately because of all the standing I am doing at work. I get off my shift at 11pm, and it's just not the same running in the dark with a petzl headlamp. Running in the morning is somewhat awkward as well.

Get well, stay well, and hopefully we won't have to wait until the autopsy to see how bad it is.
