Carmen (aka [livejournal.com profile] kermie_canada) married Josh (aka [livejournal.com profile] spookiemonkie2) yesterday. They were both nervous and utterly convinced that something horrible would happen. The bridal parties' main job was to keep them off of these mental black holes, and I think we succeeded. I personally spent yesterday morning chauffeuring the bride-to-be to and from here various appointments (and along the way I had a manicure, just to kill some time and see how the other half lives - $25 to get my nails cut? Probably won't be repeating that).

My mantra for yesterday (in fact, for several weeks leading up to the wedding) was "the lesson of Shakespeare in Love":
Philip Henslowe: Mr. Fennyman, allow me to explain about the theatre business. The natural condition is one of insurmountable obstacles on the road to imminent disaster.
Hugh Fennyman: So what do we do?
Philip Henslowe: Nothing. Strangely enough, it all turns out well.
Hugh Fennyman: How?
Philip Henslowe: I don't know. It's a mystery.
So what were our insurmountable obstacles? Well the seamstress and one of the bridesmaids almost killed themselves. The wedding dress shrank when it was cleaned. The bridesmaid's dresses were the wrong size. The power went out in the house the caterers were using.

It all turned out well. The dresses were made or altered in time. The power was fixed (because BC Hydro had a truck in the area anyway). The ceremony was beautiful and touching in exactly the right way and the happiness I feel for my friends is almost overwhelming.

Congratulations you two. You deserve all the happiness that wedded bliss has to offer.
