Big Damn Wedding Trip - Part 1
Jul. 30th, 2006 09:08 pmI'm in Vancouver, and I'm sitting in a coffee shop. So what's new?
Well
hadriel, K and I managed to survive our two day drive out here. We got out of Cowtown around 1:30, which is a little earlier then I anticipated. The only yogurt headed moves I made were to forget a glass of milk on the kitchen counter (
garething tells me it was well on it's way to cheese by the time he found it) and I forgot the power supply for my MacBook. Double D'oh!
I'll be picking up a new/spare power supply tomorrow when the local Apple dealer opens up. If that doesn't pan out (i.e. they're out of stock) I'll get
garething to grab the original. I would like to have a second power supply, just for the convenience. Remember kids, rationalizations are more important then sex - when was the last time you went longer then a week without rationalizing something?
The drive was pretty good. A video iPod loaded with Miyazaki's greatest hits is just the thing for keeping the 8-year old crowd occupied for long car trips. We stopped in Banff and Salmon Arm to eat, then slept over at Troy's place in Kamloops. That was Friday. Saturday we drove from Kamloops to Vancouver, with a short side trip to Delta to drop off the little girl.
That night we had
kermie_canada and
spookiemonkie2's Jack 'n Jill party at Wa's Clubhouse. I had about a metric ton of sushi and washed it down with a couple of Strawberry Coladas. The bride and groom were given white tees to wear and we were all given sharpies to draw on them with. As the night went on, the slogans and drawing became more and more risque. A good time was had by all. It's too bad you couldn't make it
slavewench - I know you don't know the bride and groom but they didn't care.
Today we had a vegetarian breakfast at the Naam and I did some window shopping. Now I'm living the Vancouver stereotype - sitting in a cafe typing on my MacBook. I just need to develop a taste for expensive coffee and start wearing a scarf and beret.
