So how was the trip? Pretty good. I got to visit some friends (though not as many as I'd like to have seen). It was relaxing and I got a few small chores done.

Mostly it got me out of the house. Had I stayed in Calgary, I would have felt the need to "keep busy". Do chores basically. It's not that the chores didn't need doing, they do. It's that I needed some me time more. I'm back early, so I can do a little bit of work before returning on Tuesday. Plus it'll be a short short week as I have next Friday off. Then it's off to Quad War (which better not suck). I'm told it will be stinking hot, so I'll bring a hat, water and lots of sun screen. If it does suck, I'll have my car so I can just leave early. But hopefully, it won't suck.

I would move to Vancouver in a heartbeat if it weren't for three things. My friends in Calgary, whom I love dearly; My job, which pays me a great deal and has more job security then is normal for the computer industry; My house, which I'm well on the way to owning outright, and I couldn't get a similar combination of size, quality and location in the parts of Vancouver I'd want to live in unless I had a cool million to spend.

If I was filthy rich, I'd own a residence in both Calgary and Vancouver so I could have the best of both worlds. And if I had that kind of money, flying back and forth would be easy. I'll probably never make that much money, but I can dream about it, and I can continue to buy lottery tickets. Aside from a sexual partner, it's probably my single biggest fantasy.

The small group of people who've read my porn has increased by one. [livejournal.com profile] somejauntypolka has read my one story now and told me it was pretty good. She hasn't finished the story yet, but I doubt she's going to change her tune based on the second half.

Next trip is the wedding, and it's going to be fun and joyful and the only problems will be short lived because there is a wealth of talent making things go smoothly. I truly believe that. That won't stop [livejournal.com profile] kermie_canada or [livejournal.com profile] spookiemonkie2 from worrying, but then nothing will. They'll realize I'm right about two days into the honeymoon once it all sinks in.

Marring the current trip at the last minute is the news that [livejournal.com profile] bognaustroglum is in the hospital. He's going in for surgery and I hope he recovers perfectly. It's a hernia operation so he should be alright (hell, they fixed my hernia when I was six weeks old), but no surgery is without worry. My hopes are with him tonight.

Dude, Quad will only suck if you let it. It's all you baby, it's all you.

I called them and the news so far is that he's okay, recovering. I'll go visit today and see how he does.

Having had one of those Hernia operations as a child as well and suffering no ill consequences from it all my life, I am quite certain he'll be fine.
