Pacific Theatre is this cool little theater company in Vancouver. They have a small, unusually shaped theater and they're made up of Christians. I like them a lot. First, they're a success on their own terms (and that's rare and noteworthy in the arts). Second, they're very talented. Finally, they show this jaded atheist that being a Christian doesn't mean being a jackass. They're devout without being preachy.

Whenever I plan a trip to Vancouver I always check out their website to see what's playing. This time around, Athena, Ryan and I went to see Chickens. It's a musical about, well, chickens. Also about how chickens are chickens (that is to say, how poultry are scare-dy cats).

Three men, three women. They sing, they dance, they peck and scratch. It was funny. I recommend it if you get the chance to see a production of it (it's been known to play in Rosebud for example).

Ryan, Athena and I then went on a quest for dinner. We wound up in the Cactus Club in Yaletown which was definitely a haven for the beautiful people. I think I was the only man in the entire place who did not use supplementary hair-care products. Everyone was dressed to the nines and there was a definite metrosexual vibe going on. The Bruce would have been right at home.

As we left, we saw a beggar on the street. Hindsight being 20/20, I should have talked to him:
"I'll give you twenty dollars if you keep begging, right here, until this restaurant closes.
Just keeping the universe on an even keel.
