Plans for this evening:

1) Go home.
2) Drive the Brain to his voting station.
3) Go to [livejournal.com profile] garething and [livejournal.com profile] stephtopia's place to eat lasagna.
4) Turn on CBC at 7:30 so that I can repeatedly yell "OH COME ON!" at the television.

elections are like christmas, but better

I have to wait until 10pm for anything! wah! But CBC.ca will have a live stream of their coverage, so I will be yelling the "OH COME ON!" too and all the americans will think I have gone nuts! sweet!

[livejournal.com profile] wackynephews was pondering as we left the polls on how to beat the feeling that it was a waste of time. I told him that the reason I vote was so I can complain that Myron Thompson is an idiot. He said that was as good a reason as any.

Why vote? Hmmm...well...let's see - take a look at the squeaking thin margin that George Bush got in the first time. (ignoring the blatant manipulation).

How many voters said "my vote doesn't matter" who would have voted against that man stayed home?

If you don't vote for something you believe in (at least nominally), then the people you really don't want in power insinuate their way into power.

Myron Thompson is one of the latter category - IMO. (along with several other MPs from Alberta who shall remain nameless)

(Or to paraphrase my grandfather - if you don't vote, you have no right to complain about the government later)
