Have Car, Will Travel - Part 10

The very first thought through my head upon waking this morning was "You crashed your car you dumb fuck". That thought has largely stayed with me, resulting in me not speeding one iota.
Coronet (the SCA event I went to today) was pretty damn good, both as an event and personally.
There was an archery tournament, held outside in the bitter cold. 34 archers came out and competed. We had fun, if not warmth. I apparently came in second amongst the Intermediates (and I'm pretty damn close to not being an intermediate anymore). Due to a clerical error though, it appeared that I came in third, and so did not get called up in front of court, nor did I get a prize. Turns out that the guy who came in first among the intermediates, was actually a master. As for my prize, Ellias (the sweetheart) gave me his prize - a nice red lantern for when I want to start my first brothel.
I did get called up to court, but I was actually at the far side of the parking lot, getting my camera and a pair off gloves. Like a doofus, I completely forgot to take pictures. I also missed being called up to court. They tried again later in the court and I got called up before the King and Queen of An Tir! I was awarded an Award of Arms (basically I get to call myself "lord" now and can get a coat of arms - I'm thinking a purple windmill on a background of green on the bottom and blue on top. We'll see if it passes muster and hasn't been used before.
So that was pretty cool.
There was also a thrown weapon tournament, which was a lot of fun, despite my total lack of skill with it. On the other hand, it is something I can practice at home once I get the equipment, so I plan on doing a lot better for the next one. I'll have to check the society rules regarding thrown weapons, as well as the law here in the real world.
There was a waiting list for the feast and I was lucky enough to be on it and get a seat. The feast was good, but I've had better (1st place goes to Tayaha and 2nd to Ellias in that regard). There were two highlights to the feast - one was some hand-holding and pecks-on-the-cheek with
hislittlekitty, and the other was the cutey (Crystal?) sitting across from me. At first I thought she was far far to young for me (like, 18 or so), then I found out she was 25! A pity she lives in Borealis (aka Edmonchuk).
In other news, the hotel room
nosarious swung for me has the coolest showers ever! They have seats, can host a ménage-à-trois, and have five nozzles! I want this shower for my home!
On the bright side, the inclement weather has held off - hopefully it will continue to do so until I get back to Cowtown.
All in all a good day. Good enough perhaps to bring the average up for the weekend to "OK".

Don't sweat it.

Date: 2005-11-27 12:16 pm (UTC)I think you can find them in various places for the home, but they can be expensive... Nice, but expensive. The real nice (and expensive) ones can really affect your social life as you will never leave the house (not to mention wreaking havok with your water bill.)
