I was going to test drive a Civic today, but they're sold out of 2005s. The 2006s are coming out soon though, so I'll have a look at them when the time comes.
I had a few hours to kill so I decided to bike into work for a bit before gaming tonight. On the way there I cut through the Crappy Tire parking lot. I took the turn into the parking lot too fast and managed to wipe out. This twisted the bike's handle bars out of alignment (but I put them back) and I went ass-over-tea-kettle, landing my head on the pavement and the bike on my back. I was stunned for a moment then got up, dusted myself off and did a cursory do-I-have-all-my-fingers-and-toes check, then assured the guy who watched the whole thing that I was OK. Finally, I walked the bike back up the hill to my house. Thankfully I wasn't too far into the trip.
Lets sum up the injuries:
1) I may need to get a new helmet, which saved me from cracking my skull.
2) I cranked my neck - it was really sore the first few minutes, but seems OK now. Time will tell if comes back to haunt me in the days to come. Mobility seems fine.
3) Left elbow has some road-rash and and bruising.
4) My back, near the left kidney has a bruise from where the bike landed on me.
It would have been better if I hadn't wiped out at all, but It could have been a lot worse. And, hey, if you're going to be in an accident, better it should be a bike instead of a test drive.
I think I'm going to have a bit of a lay-down now.
