One of the projects I am working on is doing a series of templates for Pages along the theme of old Googie motels and signage. Sites like this offer a lot of inspiration. Thanks for the link.

I had a short conversation with someone who was in the process of spending a small fortune on books about the Googie architecture. I was mentioning that in fifty years people will look back at the current styles and trends with the same curious feeling of nostalgia. "But this stuff will always be here!" they said. To which I replied "And every person who built a building in the fifties and forties felt the same way."

The only difference is nowadays it's easier to build archives showing what things are like today. The only way we can see what things were like way back when is the candid snapshots and postcards of yesterday. Sadly there are fewer hardcopy archives being made, and those are the ones which are usually catalogued and stored for the future.

BTW, in case you are wondering what Googie is, do a search in google for Googie. Amazing how one small architectural detail can affect an entire generation of architects.
