Getting to Vancouver was fun as this the first day of unrestricted air travel after the 9/11 attacks. Usually flying WestJet is quick and easy. This time there were lots of intrusive questions - not that I minded under the circumstances, but they did induce a healthy degree of paranoia.

When I checked my luggage, some of the questions I was asked were:

Did you pack your bags yourself?
Is there anything in the bags you don't know the contents of, like a wrapped present?
Did you leave your bags unattended in the airport?
This was fine in and of itself, however after I checked my luggage I went to the food court and bought some breakfast sandwiches from the Ask&Wait with the intent of eating them in the boarding area.

So there I am standing in line at the metal detectors holding a brown paper bag and it occurs to me that I have no idea what's inside - I paid for sandwiches, but they could have packed anything inside this bag. I frantically rifled through the bag making sure that terrorists hadn't modified my Bacon and Egger just before I stepped through to the boarding area. Feeling just a little bit silly when I found (gasp) my sandwiches.
