Sunday Soar, Sore and Crash
May. 10th, 2010 04:58 pmAs I mentioned yesterday, I ran the Mother's Day 10k Run. My official time was 1:04:45.
Running the race was a little odd because most of it was run out of anger rather then lust.
What I mean to say is that I have a method to running races that can be boiled down to this:
Yesterday, about 1/3 of the way into the race, I happened to slow to a walk so that I could strip a layer off (I was beginning to overheat). At that exact same time, I heard some woman yell (to her teammates): "Warriors don't walk up hills!"
Probably, she was just admonishing her teammates to keep the pace up (and they were, in fact, named "warriors" according to their matching tee shirts). However, my brain immediately made the connection between my walking and her statement. I took at as a thinly-veiled insult towards me.
Yeah, it's all about you Cyr.
Anyway, I determined that I wasn't going to let any of these people beat me. For the rest of the race, my goal was to either catch up to and pass anyone with a "warriors" tee shirt, or simply keep ahead of them.
This I did. I doubt I was terribly far ahead of them, but that doesn't matter.
I'll take my petty victories where I can find them.
After the race a bunch of us (
othelianna,
catalytic,
stephtopia,
garething,
thebrucie and
conejita_diabla) went to see Iron Man 2.
IM2 was a fun popcorn movie. Not as good as the original Iron Man movie, but still worth full price. I felt it lacked the character development of the first one. The "science" also seemed less plausible in this one, with Tony Stark being less a polymath genius, instead verging on being a spark.
After the movie, we went down to the Wild Rose taproom to enjoy some beer. I wish the WRTR would have better food though - they could make a decent gastropub if they wanted too, but instead, stick with food that can be served via a ladle.
Still, the beer was good.
I got a lift home and decided to hit the couch for a small nap. This was around 7. I woke up at midnight, staggered off the couch to grab some Advil to alleviate lingering soreness from my run and went to bed. Truly, it was a helluva crash.

- Pick a woman with a nice backside who happens to be slightly faster then you.
- Follow her for as long as possible.
