A pornography study had to be axed when scientists could not find any men who had not been exposed to pornography.

A few interesting things from the article:

• Being in a committed relationship chops the amount of porn watched by half. I'd have guessed a greater reduction.
  
• Boys start watching porn at roughly the time when the hormones ignite and they're smart enough to hide the evidence.
  
• They very quickly figure out what they like and stick with it.

Actually, your math is off. The committed relationship guys watched porn half as often for about half as long. So that would be roughly 1/4 the total amount of the single guys.
I'd love to see a study on how tastes change (if they do) over a guy's lifespan. But that would involve surveying a bunch of young kids and following up later. I'm not sure that would get past the ethics people.

I read that as 40 or 20 minutes total for the week, so 1/2. Rereading I see that 40 or 20 minutes per session is probably what they meant, so 1/4. So yeah, my math was off.

You could do the study beginning at the age of consent, or adulthood (if they differed). I'd be interested in seeing if people's tastes do change with age. When they change is it a refinement, an expansion or a replacement of what they find arousing.

Incidentally, 1/4 is what I'd have guessed before reading the study. Hence why I found the (incorrect) value of 1/2 to be surprising.

I think it would be more interesting to start right at the age where they start viewing. My understanding is that at a young age boys are mostly interested in boobies and that it goes down ;-) from there.

But even looking at changes through adulthood would be interesting.
I wonder if a person's partner's appearance has an impact on preferences (i.e. my wife is blonde, I want to look at brunettes for a change).

I suspect we're using preferences in a slightly different way. Going from "boob man" to "leg man", or your blondes vs. brunettes example is only a slight change from what I'm thinking - i.e. starting out being aroused by the lingerie models in the Sears catalog when you're 16 and ending up into violent German horse porn when you're 36.

Personally, I'd describe my own changes as "refinement with slight expansions" rather then "wholesale change from vanilla to rocky road". YMMV.

I did just think of a problem with their methodology that would serve to explain why they can't recruit men who don't look at porn. I mean aside form the non-existence of such men. It's self-selecting. Those rare men who don't view porn are not likely to be interested in the survey.
