jamesqMy day got off to a rip-roaring start.
I was riding the train to work this morning when a couple of transit cops board the train to check for tickets. I automatically pull out my wallet and flash the guy my pass as I've done countless times before.
On the bright side, the transit cop wasn't a jerk. He could have punted me off the train two stops early, instead he let me continue to the end of the line.

"That's last month's pass", he says.So they squeezed out a warm, steaming, $150 fine just for me. No warning because, hey, it's the fourth of the month, not the first.
"D'oh!", I think.

"Have a better day, sir" he said as he exited the train.Which was comical enough that I wasn't swearing like Lupo the Butcher the whole way to work - he couldn't very well wish me a good day after bitch-slapping my next pay check. A hope that this is the worst thing to happen to me today is nice, even if I doubt it's sincerity.
