Rainy, but still OK.
Nov. 26th, 2004 01:47 pmMy birthday was a quiet little affair. First, Athena and i went out for lunch at Steamworks in Gastown. It took me about 1/2 an hour to get there which is good because I went from Stanley Park to Gastown via New York City (photographic proof will be forthcoming).
The restaurant was very good, and the service was excellent (or at least, our server was excellent - I've heard conflicting reports from other people) I had the shrimp, artichoke, feta and mushroom pizza. Athena had the beer soup (it was some kind of stew-like chicken corn chowder, with some of the restaurant's lager thrown in to enhance the flavour. I also had the root beer float. Jason, if you're reading, you would have liked this float - they brew their own root beer (somewhat tangier than Dads, without the bitterness of Barks), and that is what the float was made with.
Later, I meandered back to Brian's place. Read a little Monstrous Regiment (the new Pratchett book), snoozed a bit, and we had Ryan and Ken over to watch The Chronicles of Riddick. It was pretty awful, but in a cheezy way that said "my time wasn't wasted, but I'm glad I didn't pay to see it in the theater".
Afterwards, Josephine came over. I asked her out and was turned down. sigh. Good news though - that makes two women I've asked out this year. Double the amount of any previous year! Can James shatter the record by asking out a third woman before the new year? Stay tuned.
Brian also got a note slipped under his door from his (allegedly red hot) neighbor - seems the walls are thin. Combine this with the fact that I have a voice that can be heard over an artillery barrage and we have a sleepless neighbor who was actual quite polite and nice about saying "shut the fuck up". In more important news, she wrote to Brian "your friend has a nice laugh". Cookies are currently being produced for her consumption.
Today is a slack day, though it is still early so I may golooking for sex toys window shopping. Later, it'll be a late dinner at The Clubhouse.
