Missing Artificial Deadlines

So today I tried to accomplish a whole bunch of stuff related to Quad War. This was all in anticipation of leaving the city to go to the site tomorrow.

First I wanted to get my camp bed built. I did so, but the dimensions were off just a wee bit, so I ended up cutting 1/2" off the bed slats to make them fit. Oh, and I made a queen size bed but discovered at the last minute that I had a double size mattress.

Apparently I had a retard sandwich for lunch.

Next we (garething and I) tried to get everything into the devoidofthought's truck. We have about 20% more stuff in the truck then can actually fit. Next time, I'm not going to offer to carry stuff for a zillion other people.

I was seriously considering jettisoning a large amount of my own stuff, but then I realized - I'm going to be on site for a week, which is the longest I've ever gone camping. I want my creature comforts dammit. And I shall have them.

Step one tomorrow is unloading the truck and seeing what I can smash in even tighter.

Step two is seeing if I can get garething to take some of this stuff his own self (as far as I can tell, his car is not going to be full, but I'll have to check).

Finally, I can load more stuff on top of the truck, but this requires better tie down gear.

Any combination of this is going to take time I don't have if I want to leave by noon Monday. But you know what? That's a completely arbitrary deadline on my part. I think I'll just aim to leave on Tuesday instead. Then I'm not worried, the whole damn trip up, that I forgot something vital.

So yeah, leaving Tuesday now.

And now, the two Robaxacets and the can of beer, along with a fairly exhausting day, are taking their toll. It's off to bed before I start yammering.
